Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

About Everyday AI for Seniors

What is Everyday AI for Seniors?

Everyday AI for Seniors is an educational program designed to help older adults understand and safely use artificial intelligence (AI) in everyday life. Our workshops focus on practical, real-world uses—such as avoiding scams, managing health information, staying connected, and simplifying daily tasks.

Do I need to be “tech-savvy” to attend?

No. Our workshops are designed specifically for beginners. No prior experience with AI or advanced technology is required—just curiosity and a willingness to learn at your own pace.

What exactly is AI, in simple terms?

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is technology that helps computers do helpful things like answering questions, summarizing information, recognizing scams, or assisting with writing messages. We focus on how AI can be useful in everyday life—not technical details.

What You’ll Learn

What will I learn in a workshop?

Depending on the session, you may learn how to:

  • Recognize scam messages and suspicious calls

  • Use AI to ask questions or get clear explanations

  • Draft emails, letters, or messages more easily

  • Find trustworthy health and wellness information

  • Stay connected with family and friends using technology

All examples are practical, hands-on, and easy to follow.

Workshop Format & Requirements

Are the workshops online or in person?

We offer both:

  • Online workshops (via Zoom)

  • In-person workshops at senior centers, libraries, churches, and community organizations

Each session is led by a trained facilitator.

How long are the workshops?

Most workshops run 60–90 minutes, including time for questions and live demonstrations.

Do I need special equipment or software?

No special equipment is required.

  • For online workshops: a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access

  • For practice exercises: a smartphone or tablet is helpful

Clear instructions are provided before every session.

Do I need to keep my camera on during online workshops?

Yes. For online workshops, we ask that participants keep their camera on whenever possible.

Having cameras on helps create a welcoming and interactive learning environment. It allows facilitators to better support participants, adjust pacing, and ensure everyone can follow along comfortably.

We understand brief breaks or technical issues may occur. If you have an accessibility concern, please contact us in advance.

Do you provide help using Zoom before the workshop?

Yes. We strongly recommend watching our short 5-minute “How to Use Zoom” video before attending an online workshop.

The video covers:

  • How to join a Zoom meeting

  • How to turn your camera and microphone on and off

  • Basic Zoom features used during the session

The video link is emailed to you after registration. Watching it ahead of time helps you feel more confident and allows us to focus on learning during the workshop.

Safety, Privacy & AI Use

Is ChatGPT or AI safe to use?

Yes—when used responsibly.

Our workshops emphasize safe and appropriate use, including:

  • What information you should not share

  • How to verify AI responses

  • How to recognize misinformation or scams

Privacy and safety are always a priority.

Will AI replace human judgment or decision-making?

No. AI is a tool designed to assist—not replace—human thinking or decision-making.

We teach how to use AI as a helpful support for learning, clarity, and confidence.

Is this medical, legal, or financial advice?

No. Our workshops are educational only and are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, or financial advice.

Registration, Pricing & Attendance

Are the workshops free or paid?

We offer:

  • Free introductory workshops through partner organizations

  • Optional themed or advanced workshops, which may require a registration fee

Pricing details are always shared in advance.

Can a caregiver or family member attend with a participant?

Yes. Caregivers are welcome to attend as support for mobility, accessibility, or assistance needs.

To ensure fairness and a high-quality learning experience:

  • Registration is per participating learner

  • Caregivers who wish to actively participate, practice, or receive materials must register separately

  • Caregivers providing support only may attend alongside the registered participant

For online workshops, each participating learner must be registered.

What if I feel overwhelmed or fall behind?

That’s completely okay.

We move at a comfortable pace, encourage questions, and provide a supportive learning environment. There is no pressure to keep up or get everything right.

Hosting & Facilitation

Can an organization host a workshop?

Yes. We partner with senior centers, libraries, faith-based organizations, and community groups.

Hosting is easy—we provide a turnkey program with trained facilitators and ready-to-use materials.

Who leads the workshops?

Workshops are led by trained educators experienced in adult learning, senior-centered instruction, and practical AI applications.

All facilitators follow a standardized, senior-friendly curriculum.

Cancellations, Refunds & Policies

Do you offer refunds if I can’t attend?

Yes, depending on timing.

  • Online workshops: Full refund if canceled 48 hours or more before the session

  • In-person workshops: Full refund if canceled 72 hours or more before the session

Late cancellations are not refundable, but we’re happy to offer a transfer or credit when possible.

What happens if I don’t show up?

If we cancel or reschedule a workshop, you may choose:
